A Matter of Life and Death is the fourteenth studio album by Iron Maiden, released on 28 August 2006.
The album is a concept album of sorts, with war and religion being recurring themes throughout the lyrics and the artwork.
It is the only Iron Maiden album to date to be played in its entirety on the supporting tour, a decision that received mixed reactions from fans at the time but has been retrospectively appreciated for its boldness.
The album received critical acclaim, with many critics praising its progressive rock influences and complex song structures.
